A 2.47 x 1.11 x 1.03 meter statue of a Blacksmith stands on a 1.25 x 1.10 x 1.10 meter stone base. The sculpture was created from Montjuïc stone, a type of sandstone, by Josep Llimona in 1914 and placed in the Plaça de Catalunya in 1928. The sculpture won an award at the 1914 International Exhibition of Art in Brussels, Belgium.
The bare-chested Blacksmith is looking slightly down and to his left. He is wearing a floor length apron tied around his waist that covers the lower body. His left foot protruded from under the apron. His arms are by his side. In his right hand he is holding a hammer and in his left hand a chisel. .
