Florida Panthers are a rare sub-species that was disappearing for a long time, but which was eventually protected. Being a human-shy creature, you probably won't see one, even in the evening; but you should look out for them -- or any animal crossing the road, of course. They are around, as the park folks can attest to, since daily counts from airplanes can also affirm.
This is one of a very few of these signs -- 3 or 4 -- in the park or near its entrance. This one reminds motorists that, regardless of the fact that you are leaving the park, you are not leaving the area frequented by these vulnerable creatures.
