Shirley B. Goerlich was an active member of the DAR, and the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, and a founding member of the General John Patterson Society of the DAR. She was a teacher, genealogist, local historian, and author. Her books included "The Civil War Soldiers of Prospect Hill".

This bench is at the Prospect Hill Cemetery even though she is buried at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery.
