West Lake is in the area of the glades where the waters are variously more and less brackish depending on the time of year. There are only 2 seasons here. In the wet season the waters are less brackish, of course. This ramp is typically used for smaller boats as well as canoes and kayaks. There are larger ramps down the road at Flamingo.

There is no specific fee for this ramp, but there is a federal fee for getting into Everglades National Park.
