Yes, this area of Florida has its own sub-species of panther. As usual, they are very shy of humans. In the many times I've visited the park since 1970 I've never seen one. But the park folks take to the air daily to try to count the panthers from airplane, and they see them.
In any case, keep your eyes pealed. Wouldn't it be great to see one? There are a couple more of these signs in the park or near it.
