This historical plaque honors Tootie McGregor Terry who was one of Fort Myers's most famous benefactors. Tootie was married to Ambrose M. McGregor and lived on McGregor Blvd. next to Thomas A. Edison when the road was a dirt cattle road known as Riverside Avenue. She was annoyed with the constant dust that the cattle stirred up when being driven from Fort Myers to the Punta Rassa docks for shipping. She offered to have the road paved if the county would name it after her late husband Ambrose.
