The church was built in 1876 & an historical note from the RDHS Wiki (visit link) states: St Stephen’s Bylong was opened October 1876. £150 debt paid off by John Lee. The ground was provided John Thomas Tindale and Anthony Nesbitt Tindale of Bylong. Deed of Trust was dated 18 October 1878. It was dedicated and consecrated 23 March 1881. The burial ground was consecrated at the same time. Rector William Skinner Wilson of Parish of Merriwa.

It is an attractive sight from the front gate where it is best to park.
