The stone is near to the entrance of Ladyhill Park behind a First World War Memorial. The war memorial was unveiled by Sir James Hill in 1922.

This entrance to the park is at its highest point and the memorial stone looks out over the rest of park.

Sir James Hill was the founder and head of Sir James Hill & Sons, wool merchants, and Liberal Member of Parliament for Bradford Central.

The inscription on the memorial stone is as follows.
