"Jumelage signé en 1959.
Fribourg est l'une des coopérations les plus anciennes et les plus connues de la Ville de Besançon. Au fil des ans, plusieurs générations de Bisontins ont pu découvrir les charmes de cette ville du Bade-Wurtemberg, à travers les échanges scolaires, sportifs ou associatifs notamment.
Pour développer les échanges entre artistes de Besançon et Freiburg, l'assocation Consonances a été créée à Besançon fin 2013. Depuis cette date, elle propose chaque année un rendez-vous musical mêlant artistes des deux villes, et donné à Besançon et à Fribourg.
Domaines de coopération : culturels, associatifs, économiques, scolaires et universitaires, techniques (maîtrise de l'énergie, urbanisme, bâtiment, voirie), sportifs." (
