Die Kirche St. Barbara mit einem im Jahr 1886 umgestalteten Turm gilt als das Wahrzeichen des Ortes.
Die 1718/19 umgestaltete Kirche und die figürlichen Darstellungen im alten Dorf geben dem Ort eine ganz deutliche barocke Prägung, die dem Winzerdorf bis heute sein unverwechselbares Flair verleiht.
Es gibt freilich einige deutlich ältere bauliche Elemente, die mit dem Untergeschoss des Turms in romanische Zeit zurückreichen, sowie bemerkenswerte künstlerische Darstellungen, die aus der Zeit der Gotik stammen. Eine beachtenswerte Steinmetzarbeit ist der reich gegliederte gotische Taufstein mit achteckigem Fuß aus dem Jahr 1511, der heute im Zentrum des Chorturmes steht.
Bei dem Umbau der Kirche 1718 wurde das Patrozinium von Jakobus dem Älteren auf die heilige Barbara übertragen und die Kirche neu ausgestattet.
Die Fenster im Langhaus stammen vom Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts und zeigen auf der Südseite den hl. Johannes sowie die Geburt Jesu, auf der Nordseite St. Georg und den Drachen, die Kreuzigungsgruppe und und Mariae Himmelfahrt. Die modernen Fenster im Chor stammen von der Künstlerin Anni Nuding und symbolisieren das Alte Testament sowie die sieben Sakramente der Kirche. – Ambo und Zelebrationsaltar wurden im Rahmen der Restaurierung 2002 neu geschaffen. There are, however, some clearly older structural elements, which date back to Roman times with the basement of the tower, as well as remarkable artistic representations dating back to the Gothic period. A noteworthy work of stonework is the richly articulated Gothic baptismal stone with an octagonal foot dating from 1511, which today stands in the center of the Chorturm.
During the reconstruction of the church in 1718, the patrocinium of James the Elder was transferred to St. Barbara and the church was newly furnished.
The windows in the nave are from the end of the 19th century and show on the south side St. John as well as the birth of Jesus, on the north side St. George and the dragon, the Crucifixion and the Ascension of Mary. The modern windows in the choir date from the artist Anni Nuding and symbolize the Old Testament as well as the seven sacraments of the church. - Ambo and celebrations were created during the restoration in 2002.
