The Greenbushes Road Board office was constructed in 1907 when the Greenbushes Road Board was established, and was used until its closure in 1970 when the town mergerd with Bridgetown to form the Bridgetown / Greenbushes Shire Council.
The building is constructed of rendered brick walls, with a corrugated iron hipped and gabled roof. There is a rendered parapet to the front elevation with a central triangular pediment and highlighted windows and front door detailing.
In 1888, David William Stinton found tin in a gully south of the present townsite which resulted in an influx of prospectors and miners that created a demand for tradesmen, merchants and storekeepers, by 1907 the population was over 3000 compared to todays 350. The mines produce tantalum, lithium and tin.
