Brehova Street is part of former Jewish Quarter in Prague. The former Jewish Ghetto in Prague has a long history, going back to the 12 th century.
The former Jewish Ghetto in Prague was demolished in 1897. The appearance of many streets has changed a lot, some streets disappeared completely.
Today, this place looks completely different than the image.
The only building in its place - in the background you can see a Pavilion of Hanau [CZ: Hanavský pavilón].
During the General Global Exhibition in 1891, which took place in Holešovice, the visitors could appreciate many exhibition buildings as well as a number of different exhibits. The fair pavilion of ‘Hanau’s Metal-works Company’ from Komárov was one of them. The company was at that time owned by Vilém Prince from Hanau, who employed over 700 workers in his company.
The prince of Hanau donated the pavilion to the City of Prague before the Global General Exhibition ended. The construction was taken apart and then rebuilt on the new designated site at the edge of Letenské Sady in December 1891.
The author of this painting is Jan Minarík. You can find this painting in book 'Starou Prahou Jana Minaríka' (
