A pair of barber poles on the Frames Complex, Little Donegall Street, Belfast.

"Just off Royal Avenue and centrally located betwen the Belfast Telegraph & Central Belfast Library is the Frames Complex. The building (formerly called Library House) was originally constructed back in 1896 and the unusual but unique triangular shaped island building was for many years the manufacturing warehouse and showroom for Robert Watson & Co. who traded on the site through 2 world wars and continuing till the late 1960's. The building lay derelict throughout the seventies and early eighties and during the first decade or so of the of the "Troubles" in Northern Ireland it fell into a poor state of decay.

A decade of dereliction came to an end in 1983 when new life emerged in the building and it opened as a "Snooker Club" Capitalising on the 80's boom in the sport and it's ongoing popularity on television "Frames" opened with 10 Tables, but within 2 years that had grown to almost 50 and became, at the time, arguably the largest in the UK. The popularity of home grown payers such as Alex Higgins & Dennis Taylor (both eighties World Champions) ensured the busines venture thrived throughout the decade.

Today, the building now more commomnly referred to, as "The Frames Complex" has over the past two decades ultilised vacant and redundant warehouse space to offer a unique facility that incorporates in addition to it's original "Snooker" tables an "American Pool & 9 Ball" area housing over 14 tables with large screen TV's & surround sound & the latest in arcade games.

TANNING @ FRAMES also incorporates the latest in sunbed tanning technology as well as toning plates while as a complimentery extension award winning "NAILS by IZABELLA" can provide as aspects of nail art and care as well as Thai Massage & Vanilla Beauty treatments.

The "TITANIC PUB & KITCHEN" &" YARD 401" function rooms are also located on the ground floor along with "LITTLE DONNS" pizzeria providing eat-in or delivery service to their freshly made stone baked pizza's.

Amazingly the building was only listed in 2009 and schemes have been submitted for a possible Hotel conversion with a view to fully utilising the some 15,000sq ft of the premises that currently remains vacant"
