Wordpress BlogThe Fort Worth Gazette, September 10, 1892, reported a “disastrous fire comes near wiping the little city of Canton out of existence” on September 9th. The fire burned the west side of the square, which contained Hodges store and the D. F. Clark Drug store among several others.
Hodges erected a brick storefront, with wood and glass windows, and complemented with metal cornice, columns, and his name emblazoned on the pediment.
