Radnicní stairs connect the upper end of Nerudova Street with Hradcanské Square and were built at the same time in place of a narrow, steep track. The bottom of Radnicní stairs is decorated by a statue of St. John of Nepomuk by M. J. Brokof from 1709 and statue of St. Joseph by an unknown author from 1714.

Vaclav Jansa (October 22, 1859 Slatinice - June 29, 1913 Cernošice) (visit link) Czech landscape artist and illustrator, best known for these views, originally painted in water-colour.
Jansa was apprenticed to buyers, but later he devoted himself to his hobby of drawing and painting. Vaclav Jansa traveled a lot and took to painting landscapes. He painted mostly southern Bohemia and Giant Mountains. Since 1893 was redeveloped historic districts of Prague, Prague ghetto and parts of the Old and New Town. In this time Jansa painted cca 150 colored watercolors documenting disappearing part of the city.

Radnicní schody spojovaly a spojují Malou Stranu s mestem, resp. ctvrtí Hradcany. Schodište vzniklo v roce 1663 jako náhrada starší vozové cesty, spojující ulici Ostruhovou (Nerudovu) a Hradcanské námestí. Vlevo dum c.p. 183/IV a cást objektu c.p. 184/IV náležejícího klášteru bosých karmelitek na Hradcanech. Klášter vznikl na míste vetšího poctu stredovekých domu, v roce 1627 se zde usadili reholníci sv. Pavla neboli barnabité. Do držení karmelitek od sv. Josefa se klášter dostal v roce 1791.
Název Radnické schody platí od roku 1870 dodnes, prestože Ústav pro jazyk ceský uvádí jako správnejší tvar „Radnicní"". Dríve byla komunikace nazývána Radnickou, Masokrámským vrškem ci Reznickým vrškem. Soucasný název je odvozen od hradcanské radnice nacházející se vpravo nad schody. Klášter byl v roce 1950 zestátnen a premenen ve vládní hotel. Zpet v držení karmelitek je od roku 1991.
