Lynn Sheffield Simmons's entry in the
Images of America series, "Argyle", provides a bit of information, noting that this church was established in 1971, meeting in a community center with the minister from the Justin Church of Christ leading the service. Ultimately, they purchased this property, which is over six acres, and they remodeled the old home here for use as a sanctuary. Eventually, they outgrew that building, which became an education building, and they replaced it with this sanctuary.
Unfortunately, this sanctuary's days are numbered, as is the sanctuary of the Oak Hills Community Church around the corner from here on US 377. In January 2017, the Argyle Church of Christ merged with the Alliance Church of Christ in Northlake, west of here, to become the North Texas Church of Christ. This property will ultimately be used by the Waterbrook development, which will feature homes and commercial/retail space.
