The park was opened in 1885 in memory of Harold Gathorne Hardy, who was a distinguished member of the Hardy family, connected with the founding and success of the nearby Low Moor Ironworks. He died prematurely in 1811, aged just 32.
The park is popular and well maintained. The trail consists of 14 pieces, each require a degree of balance and agility.
