Records indicate the Mr. Ortiz was born in Mexico in 1863 and died near Arivaca, Arizona in 1965. He is buried in the Arivaca Cemetery. It was unusual to live this long doing hard work, likely ranching, in a remote area.

No other records of his life can be found, but here are a few of the events that he witnessed in his lifetime:
