Bradford has always been associated with the woollen trade and before the industrial revolution relied upon easily available water.
Traditionally a well near this site was always known as Jacob's Well and this gave the pub its original name.
Bradford has grown considerably since then and the pub now stands next to a busy roundabout carrying large volumes of traffic around the city centre.
Fortunately though this unpromising spot is surprisingly quiet. It sits below the level of the road which helps to protect it from noise and traffic fumes.
The pub has benches outside and depending on which way you face it's easy to forget how close the traffic is.
The pub serves a variety of ciders and real ales and was voted the 2015 Best Pub in Bradford by CAMRA.
The pub also serves a small selection of sandwiches and pies.
