When the WPA writers visited here, Fort McKavett was a town existing among the fort's ruins. Since the 1980s, Fort McKavett has been a state historic site -- visitors, but no townsfolks, then or now.

The waymark coordinates are for the Fort McKavett State Historic site, southwest of Menard TX.

In the 1930s, WPA writers visited here an found a town among the ruins.
