George and Dragon: St George is the Patron Saint of England and his conflict with a dragon is essential to his story. This sign is a symbol of English nationalism.

The hanging sign depicts St George on his horse, with his sword raised in the air above his head, about to slay the dragon.
The sign has the name above the picture and the words Fine Ales and Carvery beneath.

"The George & Dragon is a smart, modern pub in the centre of Longton, with a smallish front bar with TV's, leading to a spacious, airy, conservatory area at the back, recently refurbished to a high standard. There is a smoking patio to the rear, and a DJ performs his stuff every Friday and Saturday nights." (visit link)

The George and Dragon pub was popularly known as ‘th Owd ‘Ut’ in the past. (visit link)
