This impressive and huge sculpture in the form of an angel hanging in a steel frame is at the center of the Assicom Square (Assicom Square). It is called Anjo da Praça da Assicom, but is also called Monumento ao Trabalhador (Monument for the worker), Anjo da Madeira (Angel of the Island of Madeira), and Homenagem da Assicom (Tribute of Assicom).
It was created in 2004 by the sculptor Ricardo Velosa and was cast by Fundição Location (Oliveira do Douro).
At the feet of the angel is a plaque with the following inscription:
homenagem da assicom a todos os que
colaboraram no desenvolvimento do sector
da construção civil e obras públicas, nos
últimos anos, na região autónoma da madeira.
