The Glen has been landscaped with good paved paths, bridges, steps, iron railings and a small planted area.

The small river that flows through the Glen was once the tail-race of the mill belonging to Howestrake Farm which once stood at the bottom of Royal Avenue.

At the top of the Glen is the Millennium Shelter which was completed as one of the Onchan District Commissioners Millennium projects.

The lower entrance to the Glen is topped with an iron archway with the letter "OVC" for Onchan Village Commissioners above the words "Port Jack Glen"

Until the early 1960's Port Jack Glen was a small, undeveloped valley at the bottom of Royal Avenue. The area had before 1892 been owned by The Douglas Bay/Howestrake Estate but in that year it was given to Douglas Corporation and was only acquired by Onchan Commissioners in 1959.
