This flora and fauna information sign helps visits identify subtle signs of animal life in what looks like a barren and lifeless desert.
The sign reads as follows:
"SIGNS OF LIFE
In the desert you might not see animals at midday, but their signs are all around you. Burrows of various sizes might belong to ground bees, tarantulas, or kangaroo rats. Listen for the clicking of grasshoppers and the distant scream of a red tailed hawk.
Life here has a different rhythm - a fierce economy of movement - that varies according to ground temperature, season, and time of day. At twilight the pace quickens. With scurrying and rustling, and the snarls and squeals of the hunt, the desert awakens.
Mountain Lion tracks
Jackrabbit tracks
Deer tracks
Lizard tracks
Half-eaten cactus pad"
