The Salmon is a very apt sculpture to dispaly in Laxey as in Manx Gaelic the name of the village is Laksaa which is derived from the Old Norse Laxa meaning 'Salmon River'.

The Sculpture which was hand-crafted in stainless steel, is the work of local blacksmith Allan King and stands six-feet high. The Sculpture depicts the Salmon as though it were leaping

Allan received a grant from the Isle of Man Arts Council in order to complete the Salmon.
