The Sotol Vista overlook gives a spectacular view of the Chihuahua Desert to the west and Goat Mountain to the east. It's a great place to watch the sunset.
The information sign at the overlook reads as follows:
"SOTOL
The spear-like plant surrounding this overlook is sotol, a member of the lily family. Sotol thrives on cooler, north facing terrain, midway between desert and mountains. For thousands of years Big Bend’s early inhabitants roasted the heart of sotol for food and use the leaf fibers for rope and sandals."
