EDIT: In March 2021, after the major flooding of the Manning River, this bridge was closed, and a new, concrete bridge was put in its place - so this entry is now Archived!
In November 2016 the local council has put some constrictions and speed bumps in place here to slow the traffic down. Previously it was a narrow two lane bridge, that I was generally 'happy' to do 80 km/hr over. Now it is necessary to slow to about 20 km/hr (and Give Way to traffic coming from Tinonee). The bridge has a 23 tonne gross weight limit, which could be approached with the milk semi-trailers that access the dairy farms at Mondrook. In the 12 years of living in Tinonee I have seen flood waters come up to the deck of the bridge, but not go over it. Under the bridge it is supported by timber poles, that are looking a bit decayed - so it is no surprise that weight and speed restrictions have been put in place. There are wooden plank abutments at either ends of the bridge.
There are a couple of monitoring boxes placed under the bridge - I guess to monitor the dry rot and destruction of the wooden bearers.
