[EN] This splendid, remarkably restored furnace belongs to the small patrimony of the municipality.

It was built near the river AVENE which provided him with plenty of water he needed.

The furnace required a combustion specialist and a large workforce to supply it with wood and limestone pebbles.

At the end of the calcination cycle of limestone blocks, quicklime used as a disinfectant was obtained, if water was added, slaked lime, which was spread over the soil, was used to neutralize the excessively acid soil.

Associated with sand and water, the slaked lime was used to bind the building stones of the houses of the village and became, over time, a very resistant material.
