Roku 1377 udelil Karel IV. mesto Zhorelec s okolím jako vévodství svému nejmladšímu synovi Janu Zhoreleckému, který je držel až do roku 1396, kdy bylo Zhorelecko spojeno v celek s Lužicí. V roce 1635 postoupeno s Lužici jako ceské léno Sasku, 1815 pripojeno k Prusku. Po roce 1945 nekdejší Zhorelecko soucástí Polska a Nemecka."

The historic area of Upper Lausitz, originally part of the Czech state.In 1377 Charles IV gave Gorlitz as the Duchy to his youngest son Jan Zhorelecký, which held until 1396, when it was associated with the Lausitz. After 1945, the former Gorlitz duchy is part of Poland and Germany.
