This pillar is situated on the eastern side of the hill. Trees and foliage obscure views north but there is a clear view south-east over Strathmore.
STEEPNESS: None from the car park, but on foot it is steeper to reach from the south than the gentler slope on the north side.
TERRAIN: The hill has many paths and tracks along its flank.
ACCESSIBILITY: There is a car park on the hill only a couple of hundred yards from the pillar. From the town centre to the south-west it is a half mile walk.
NAVIGATION: Surprisingly difficult to find mainly due to the maze of paths in the vicinity, but from the car park head east beyond the playwark along the track to reach a standing stone, from here a path heads south and the pillar sits among bushes about twenty yards away.
DANGER: None, the pillar sits above an old quarry to the south but is fenced off from it.
