Woodmen headstones with a sphere at the top are not unique, but they are uncommon at best. There are several of them in Chico Cemetery, however. This one is of white marble, and given its age, is in excellent condition, with the details being very visible. Above the Woodmen emblem is "Chico Camp No. 28", and the inscription is:

Nov. 26, 1853,
Died
June 30, 1895.
The epitaph is on the plinth:
Sleep, husband dear in quiet rest,
A day will come for waking,
When we together shall be blest,
And hearts shall know no breaking.
