The boat is at the rear of the museum & is kept undercover. It was provided by David Berry (1795 - 1889), an agriculturalist & landowner after whom the town was named. Its purpose was to rescue people living on the northern bank of the Shoalhaven River during times of flood. It is made of wood & still sits on the original hand made horse drawn trolley.
An article published in the Town Crier, a local newspaper, in October 2023 under the heading of The Berry & District Historical Society gave the following information, in part:
Built by John Hawken at Berry's Boatyard near Coolangatta in 1889, the Noah is one of two identical 24 foot (7.3 metre) timber boats, the other being the Shoalhaven.
