A small square on the north side of the Church of Our Lady before Tyn in the heart of Old Town in the Middle Ages was an important place for the Prague trade. On the left the northern wall of the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, on the right originally medieval times remodeled houses No. 628 and 629.
The corner house on the right No. 628 was called At The Black deer. At The Blue Deer, Niendertheymeyovský or Škréta House because here in the early 17th century, a world-famous painter Karel Skreta (

Vaclav Jansa (October 22, 1859 Slatinice - June 29, 1913 Cernošice) (
visit link) Czech landscape artist and illustrator, best known for these views, originally painted in water-colour.
Jansa was apprenticed to buyers, but later he devoted himself to his hobby of drawing and painting. Vaclav Jansa traveled a lot and took to painting landscapes. He painted mostly southern Bohemia and Giant Mountains. Since 1893 was redeveloped historic districts of Prague, Prague ghetto and parts of the Old and New Town. In this time Jansa painted cca 150 colored watercolors documenting disappearing part of the city.

Malé námestícko na severní strane Týnského chrámu v samém srdci Starého Mesta bylo v dobe stredoveku duležitým místem pro pražský obchod. Vlevo severní zed kostela Panny Marie pred Týnem, vpravo puvodne stredoveké, vícekrát prestavované domy c.p. a 628 a 629. Rohový dum vpravo c.p. 628 byl nazýván U Cerného jelena. U Modrého jelena, Niendertheymeyovský ci také Škrétuv, protože se zde na pocátku 17. století narodil svetoznámý malír. Dnešní tvár druhého domu naproti pri ústí Týnské ulicky. U Cerného slona, U Duhy ci U Elefanta, je výsledkem úprav v dobe baroka i klasicismu. Za ním patrný dum c.p. 605/1 U Kamenného zvonu, puvodne stredoveký, na obraze ve své barokní podobe.
Škrétuv dum byl zboren v roce 1898. Novostavba c.p. 628, která vznikla podle plánu Aloise Elhenlckého z roku 1898, ustoupila z ulicní cáry puvodního domu, címž umožnila zvetšení prostranství. Na objekt byla prenesena pametní cedule na malíre Karla Škrétu (1610-1674).
