The First United Methodist Church of Fort Davis is located at the corner of front Street and Woodward Avenue.
The building is marked with an official state historical commission medallion with no text plaque, however a plaque affixed to the building not issued by the state reads as follows:
"FIRST PROTESTANT CHURCH
Between San Antonio and El Paso, this is the original structure built 1884 as a mission by the Methodist Episcopal Church South."
I obtained the marker number from the Texas Historical Commission, as this medallion is not in the Atlas as of January 2017. Hopefully it will be added soon.
