Civitavecchia is a sea port on the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a town and commune of the Metropolitan City of Rome in region of Lazio. The port area was heavily bombed during World War II and the new Rome Cruise Terminal was build more than 1 mile away from downtown Civitavecchia. A free shuttle bus runs every half hour. It will take you back and forth from the Rome Cruise Terminal to the shuttle bus terminal in the north side of Civitavecchia. From there you can walk along the waterfront into the old part of the city, distance is about 0.50 miles. The train station that connects Civitavecchia to Rome is about 1 mile south of the shuttle bus terminal.
