[FR] Dans la 1ère moitié du 19e siècle la toiture s'est effondrée.
Celle-ci, de forme circulaire, était dotée de deux lucarnes à fronton et d'un lanternon. Une récente restauration a permis de sauvegarder une grande partie de ce colombier.
Ce colombier, de forme circulaire, est paré d'un bandeau, d'une pierre d'envol et d'une porte d'entrée à chaînages harpés.
A proximité se situe un hangar agricole dont la charpente est soutenue par un pilier carré en pierre de taille et moellon.
Cet ensemble est entouré d'un mur de clôture en moellon.
Ce colombier à pied, c'est-à-dire en forme de tour, sans toiture, comprend une porte unique sans aucune autre ouverture. Les murs extérieurs sont lisses sans aucune saillie, afin que les chats ou les bêtes nuisibles ne puissent y grimper. Récemment, il a été magnifiquement restauré afin de le rendre visitable.
A l’intérieur, le colombier comprend 2000 petites niches ou boulins, qui facilitaient la ponte les oiseaux. Les boulins sont répartis de manière uniforme sur la surface du mur circulaire sur toute sa hauteur.
Au Moyen Age, Charlemagne rend l'élevage du pigeon "privilège nobiliaire". Pratiquement tous les châteaux, fermes seigneuriales et abbayes possédaient un colombier. Ce dernier pouvait contenir jusqu'à 5.000 pigeons et attestait de la richesse et de la puissance de son propriétaire. Ce privilège fut octroyé à l’ancien château d’Aulnay. Il fallut attendre la Révolution Française pour voir abolir ce privilège.

Inside, the dovecote comprises 2000 small niches or boulins, which facilitated the egg-laying of the birds. The bolts are uniformly distributed over the entire surface of the circular wall.
In the Middle Ages, Charlemagne made the breeding of the pigeon "noble privilege". Virtually all the castles, seigniorial farms and abbeys had a dovecote. The latter could hold up to 5,000 pigeons and attest to the wealth and power of its owner. This privilege was granted to the old castle of Aulnay. It was not until the French Revolution that the privilege was abolished.
