One of 5 grave marker style state historic markers in the cemetery, this grave marker commemorates the life of Pharis Hurst, a Union Army Civil War veteran who moved to Crockett County in 1917.

He is buried beneath a US Government tombstone with the shield and data in relief, as follows:

Marker Text:
(1840-1927) U.S. Army veteran of Civil War, discharged after loss of arm, Siege of Vicksburg. Born in Pennsylvania. Came to Texas after war. Was a farmer-teacher-postmaster. Wives: (1) Melinde Beal; (2) Zilla Parker. Had 4 children. Lived in Ozona 1917-1927. Recorded - 1970
