"Before the House of Art, a magnificent building of the first synagogue Košice stood in its place since 1867 until it was razed to the ground in the early 1960s. Next to it, during 1926 and 1927, an impressive neological synagogue for 1100 people was built, characterized by a huge oval cupola with diameters of 21 and 24 meters that resembles the Roman pantheon that has been preserved in its slightly altered condition."
