About the Person
Floyd 'Papa Panther' Pawlowski was principal of Medford Mid High beginning in 1978 and continued in that capacity from the time the school was renamed South Medford High School in 1986 until his retirement in 1998.
Mr. Pawlowski was employed by Medford School District for 39 years, dating back to 1959 when he began his career as a science and math teacher at Medford Senior High on Oakdale Avenue. He continued to teach there when the building changed to Medford Mid High in 1967, and later taught science at the senior high school. Mr. Pawlawski served for two years in a district office administrative position as a subject area specialist.
Nicknamed 'Papa Panther,' Mr. Pawlowski was known for his high standards in academics and athletics. During his tenure as principal the school received many national awards for initiating and implementing creative and innovative programs. (framed picture bio in gym lobby)
