"Begun in 1841 as an independent congregational church, Union Center Christian Church has been served by twenty-two senior pastors, with the longest tenures held by the two most recent.In 1969 George Marchak was called to pastor a little flock of forty-one at the old church building site adjacent to the cemetery on Route 26...With growth well over three hundred, the congregation pressed forward to purchase the former Maine-Endwell Elementary School building when it became available in 1981...The sanctuary, free of debt, was added to the school building in 1997. In 2004 a capital campaign entitled “Living the Call” was initiated to raise funds to expand the church campus by adding the Main Street fellowship area, ministry offices, nursery, additional adult classrooms, and overflow room. The construction project known as Phase One was completed in 2005; "
