From the 1920s through the late 1960s, this was a busy intersection as Wellington Street was the main thoroughfare from downtown, crossing above all the railway traffic. This station, on the northwest corner of the intersection, faced another gas station at 930 Wellington which was affiliated with Shell Oil in the 1940s. That station building also survives into 2017.
According to a leasing advertisement, this building at 927 Wellington dates from 1950. In the 1956 Ottawa city directory material, the station was known as Al's Fina Servicentre, Allan F Meikel. By 1963, it was Bory's Fina Service. More recently, before becoming vacant in 2017, the building was home to a franchise of NAPA Autopro.
