In Jay Melugin's entry in the Images of America series, "Pilot Point", there is a photo of this sanctuary, looking as it does today but without all the wires around it. The church was initially established as "The Pilot Point Baptist Church" in 1856, and this sanctuary very quickly replaced their original building which was destroyed by a tornado in 1879. At some point, they became "The First Baptist Church" and then later, "Bethel Baptist Church."
