The plaque says, "This library garden courtyard and fountain are dedicated to the memory of Carolyn Craig Franklin (1919-1993).

They were donated by Dr. Carl Franklin, vice president Emeritus and Professor of Law at USC, and their four children: Craig, Sterling, Larry and Priscilla.

The Franklins joined USC in 1953, he as a law professor and she as a energetic volunteer. She served as president of the faculty wives, 1970-1972, and Town and Gown, 1980-1982

She was awarded the USC presidential medallion posthumously by president Steven B. Sample for her outstanding service to USC."
