This pillar is situated on the high point of a low ridge just west of the town of Brechin. The sturdy looking object lies a few yards off a minor road in a field half a mile south of Findowrie Farm. There is a good view to the north towards the rolling Grampians.

STEEPNESS: At only 128 metres high there is very little climbing involved.

TERRAIN: Virtually all on tarmac until the last few yards where care needs to be taken crossing long grass and a low fence on the verge of the road.

ACCESSIBILITY: A minor road runs west from Brechin to the hamlet of Careston and goes directly along the top of the ridge passing just south of the pillar. It`s a long walk from Brechin but there is a parking space a few yards east of the high point of the road, (take care not to block a gate).

NAVIGATION: The pillar cannot be seen from the road but it lies just north of it at the roads highest point around ten to twenty yards in the field on the left side of a fence. Keep to the edge of the fence away from any crops.

DANGER: None, other than crossing into the field, especially if the verge is overgrown.

Type of Trigpoint: Triangulation Pillar
