Die Kirche war ehemals der hl. Anna geweiht. Sie ist das älteste erhaltene Gebäude der Stadt. An die ursprünglich zweijochige Saalkirche des frühen 13. Jahrhunderts mit einem gerade geschlossenen Chorjoch und einem Turm wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts ein dreijochiges Schiff mit polygonalem Chor angebaut.
