These two lions are NOT identical. The lion on the south has his mouth closed...and his tail up. The lion on the north has his mouth open and his tail down.
They guard the entrance to the 1893 Art Institute of Chicago. before coming here, they were on display at the fiargrounds in Jackson Park for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition.
