CES MOULEN FE L’AN MEIL 1801
Il s’agit de Jean-François Speneux (1742-1804) qui, à la Révolution, va acquérir de nombreux Biens Nationaux, dont un moulin à vent à farine sur Saint-Martin-au-Laërt et le moulin Saint-Bertin à Saint-Omer.
On retrouve ses fils, petit-fils et sa veuve Catherine HERICOURT, dans ce dernier moulin (à eau à plusieurs usages) jusqu’ aux années 1860. Très vite cependant, le Grand Moulin appartient au meunier André LARDEUR, de TATINGHEM, puis en 1840 à Edouard LARDEUR, distillateur
En 1851, à Xavier MAHIEU, il est déjà arrêté vers 1867, et vers 1900, une carte postale le représente en ruine.
L’attachement à nos racines nous est donné par Monsieur et Madame HUART, qui à partir de 1978 se sont lancés dans la réhabilitation du moulin. Il a fallu sans nul doute beaucoup de courage à Monsieur et Madame HUART pour affronter la réhabilitation d’un tel monument dont la tour s’élève à 14,50 mètres.
5 ans d’importants travaux de maçonnerie, de fabrication du chemin de roulement, de réalisation de la charpente, de la toiture, du rouet, de bardeaux en châtaigner, des ailes, des escaliers, de construction de la galerie circulaire, lui rendent sa splendeur.
Tour en briques rouges décorées de 3 rangs de pierres blanches moulurées. Les portes et fenêtres à encadrement de pierres blanches. Au 4ème étage, une porte donne sur le petit balcon, chose rarissime. Elle est surmontée d’une pierre sculptée représentant le moulin à galerie circulaire. En-dessous, une autre pierre blanche comporte une inscription fort effacée dont on peut encore lire « CE MOULIN…« .

In 1851, to Xavier MAHIEU, he was already arrested around 1867, and around 1900, a postcard depicts him in ruins.
The attachment to our roots is given to us by Monsieur and Madame HUART, who from 1978 have embarked on the rehabilitation of the mill. It took undoubtedly much courage for Mr. and Mrs. HUART to face the rehabilitation of such a monument whose tower rises to 14.50 meters.
5 years of important works of masonry, manufacture of the rolling road, construction of the framework, the roof, the spinning wheel, the chestnut shingles, the wings, the stairs, the construction of the circular gallery, splendor.
Tower in red bricks decorated with 3 rows of molded white stones. Doors and windows framed with white stones. On the 4th floor, a door opens onto the small balcony, a very rare thing. It is surmounted by a sculpted stone representing the mill with circular gallery. Below, another white stone contains a very effaced inscription, of which one can still read "CE MOULIN ...".
