Verbandsgemeinde Altenahr
"Blasonierung:

EN:
"Blasoning:
Splits of red and silver, at the front of the crevice a half-silver eagle, over which a golden crown floats, behind a continuous black cross.
Around the coat-of-arms, a signboard extension.
Justification:
Already in 1313, the barometer of Altenahr shows the eagle and the Kreuz cross. After that, the municipality was designed.
The eagle comes from the coat of arms of the Counts of Are, the cross points to the archbishopric of Cologne, the archbishop of Konrad of Are-Hochstaden as the heir to the county. It is the coat of arms of the local community of Altenahr, which is extended by the shield for the Union. "
