A homemade tombstone elegantly decorated with a border of broken colored glass marks the final resting place for Mrs. R.D. Billingsley stands in Copperas Cemetery northwest of Junction TX.

Her tombstone reads as follows:

"MRS. R. D. BILLINGSLEY

Borned Nov. 27, 1900
Died Nov. 12, 1935

Gone but not Forgoten"

We found her death certificate on Ancestry, which gave us her name (Cora Eva McDonald) and cause of death as pulmonary tuberculosis.

She is buried next to her brother Millard McDonald.

Her husband Richard D. Billingsley, who died of peritonitis due to appendicitis in 1940, and an unknown infant child, presumably theirs, are buried in another part of the cemetery.

We found this family in the 1930 US Census living in Kimble County with her husband and their 8-year-old daughter Louisa. They lived with her parents and siblings, in a farmhouse rented for $5 a month. They did not have a radio. Cora was married at age 21, and husband Richard was 22. They are farming.

We found their daughter Louise's's birth certificate listing her name as Eva Louise Billingsley, born in Pleasanton, Atascosa County on 21 Feb 1922 to Cora McDonald Billingsley and Delbert Richard Billingsley, who was farming in 1922.

We don't think the infant buried here is Louisa, who we found applying for a social security card in 1969 under the name of Eva Louise Pape, who attested that she was born 21 Feb 1922 in Pleasanton to deceased parents R. D. Billingsley and Cora McDonald. Eva Louise Pape died in Calhoun Co. TX 1991. We were not able to get her death certificate through Ancestry.
