In the center of Lake George is a time capsule, set there as a bicentennial celebration.
The capsule is set in Shepard Park, which is the village green, located between U.S. 9 (Canada Avenue) and lake George. The capsule is located near the Centennial Fountain, near the road.
The capsule is marked with a concrete marker with a bronze plaque, surrounded by bushes.
The bronze plaque has the following on it:
Top part:
"Beneath this marker a bicentennial time capsule
Dedicated October 15, 1977
To be raised October 15, 2077
Lake George"

I couldn't find anything specific about the capsule. I think that it's for the U.S. Bicentennial, possibly related to battles that occurred in that year (Battles of Bennington and Saratoga).
